Day 7 & Final Weigh in!!!

DAY 7- RICE & VEGGIES

Hey everybody, well I did it, 7 longgggg days of this crazy diet eating foods with no flavor and having my willpower tested to the max!!

Surprisingly the week went by faster than I thought it would, and I'm just really relieved that this diet is over. My last day was Saturday June 23, but I'm writing this Sunday morning.

Day 7 actually wasn't too bad. I started the day eating rice and leftover stir fried veggies. I was pretty stuffed after that, and it carried me till about 2pm. By then I was starving so I ate my LAST bowl of cabbage soup (there was just no way by Day 7 that I was going to be able to eat 2 bowls of that crap lol)

I was sooo full after that bowl. The soup really is very filling (as it's filled with sooo many veggies). I did find that I was eating every 2 -3 hours on day 6 and 7 (guess my metabolism was kicking in) so a few hours later I had more rice and veggies.

For dinner I steamed carrots and broccoli and stir fried that in olive oil spray and garlic (it was sooooo yummy!!) and mixed that with rice. I actually didn't eat anything after that as I had a headache half the day yesterday and didn't even want to eat anymore.

Overall Day 7 was good, it was nice to eat rice, and I drank about 5 glasses of water through the day which also filled me up. I found if I got a bit hungry, I would just down a glass of water and then I would be fine. I have to say I haven't felt bloated at all since day 5 so that's been really nice.

My cravings were very minimal today unlike the past 2 days which I feel have been the worst for cravings! As I had a headache (don't know if it was due to this diet or not) I went to bed early (also so that day 8 could come quicker and I could eat NORMAL foods again!!)

 Food Recap

1 cup brown rice, 1/2 cup of veggies-9am
1 full bowl of soup-2pm
1/2 cup rice, less than 1/2 cup veggies-4pm
1 cup rice, 2 cups veggies-6:45pm
Water Intake= 5 glasses

My overall thoughts of the Cabbage Soup Diet

Negatives

Bloating-I felt very very bloated (especially after meals) every day except day 6 and day 7. I feel on day 5 after introducing meat back into my system I just didn't take it well, and I was extremely bloated, and lethargic.

Cravings- The first few days of the diet were ok, I did have cravings but they were quite minimal and I was still very motivated to stick with the diet. Day's 5 & 6 were HORRIBLE for cravings, I had cravings for sugar, sweet foods, and basically anything with flavor in it. I found that if I ate soup during those cravings they would subside, but it still sucked having to eat soup rather than ANYTHING ELSE!

The Soup-After a few days I was getting pretty sick of eating that soup (yea yea its to be expected) but 7 days of the SAME OLD SOUP got to be a bit much. The soup itself wasn't disgusting, but you definitely have to get creative if you're going to eat the same thing everyday. I found adding pepper to each bowl I had REALLY helped!!

Tired-I was pretty tired the whole entire week, some days I had more energy (day 4 , 6, 7) but the other days I was pretty lazy, and didn't have much energy for anything.

Bathroom Breaks- I know this comes with the territory but it was getting pretty irritating going to the bathroom about 8-15 times a day.

Water Intake-As it's always been difficult for me to drink A LOT of water everyday, this diet definitely challenged that, but I have to say I feel I've done pretty good in drinking a lot of water every day (definitely way more than I drink on a regular basis) and I feel my water intake played a big role in my weight loss during this diet!

Positives

Awesome sleep- I have to say I had the best sleep every night while on this diet. I'd be exhausted every night by 9pm (which I never was before) and I would get a good 8 hours deep sleep in.

Feeling Full-I have never been so full after meals like I have been on this diet. One bowl of soup, or one cup of fruit and I was stuffed. It was great because I was eating small low calorie portions, but eating numerous times a day. I'm definitely going to stick with trying to eat smaller portions more often to keep this weight off.

Weight loss! Of course the best part for me of this diet was the weight loss. I was losing on average 0.8 of a pound a day, and I feel that was my BIGGEST motivator to stick with this diet (believe me there were more a than a few times where I was about to quit, but I didn't!) I think it was day 5 that I was starting to see noticeable physical change in my weight loss, and that was sooooo rewarding! Of course getting compliments of my weight loss was sooo cool as well!!

Feeling Good-Although each day of this diet came with its ups and downs, I have to say overall on day 8, I'm feeling really good. This diet is a great cleanse and I do feel so much better overall, its hard to explain, but its a good feeling knowing your body went through a cleanse and got rid of a lot of water/toxins/waste.

Recommendations

So...do I recommend this diet to others?..Well if you are dead set on losing weight fast or wanting to go through a good cleanse then this is the diet for you. It's a very very quick way to lose weight, but it defiantly comes at a price of having your willpower tested significantly.  I DO want to stress that you should ONLY do this diet for 7 days, and if you wish to lose more weight, it is highly recommended you wait 2 weeks before you start this diet again.  For your own health, you need to give your body a break in between rounds.  If you have any health concerns it is also recommended you talk to your doctor first before trying this diet.

This is a very strict diet, and going off course and even cheating a little bit will absolutely set you off track. It's very important to stick with every day's meal plans, drink lots of water, and put as little salt in your cabbage soup as possible (I think the only salt that was in my soup was from the 4 cups of V8 juice I put in there and even that was low-sodium juice). I cut out the options of putting onion soup mix and bouillon cubes in my soup, and I even cut out the butter that I was allowed to have on my baked potato on Day 2. I took this diet pretty seriously, because even after day 1 I knew that it was going to be a rough week, and if I was going to go through this crazy strict plan, I might as well go full force to get the best results.

I recommend doing this diet on a week where you don't have a lot of plans and get togethers, as I could see those events having huge temptations (drinks and food). I was pretty much a homebody most of the week, and when I was at my bfs or at work I always brought soup and the food that was allotted for that day with me, so if I got hungry I would never turn to any other food.

I do recommend doing this diet on your days off (or during the majority of your days off) if possible, because I personally experienced fatigue, cravings, headaches and bloating which all were uncomfortable, and I definitely wasn't 100% myself when it came to my concentration on anything (but overall it wasn't too significant). I've read that many people have done this diet during work days and they just bring their soup with them and plug on through the day. I give them a lot of credit, because even though I worked a few days this week, I couldn't imagine working the majority of the week feeling the way I was feeling. I was actually going to start this diet before my graduation (which I should have) but I was working a lot and was soooo busy that I felt it would benefit me more if I did it on a low work week and so I specifically waited for this week. I feel just preparing myself for this diet really helped with my motivation and willpower.

I first heard about this diet online a few weeks ago, and I soon began watching numerous YouTube videos of peoples Cabbage Soup Diet Experiences (I totally recommend watching the videos, some of them are pretty hilarious!!). I also searched out many blogs of people who have completed the diet, and definitely did a lot of research to know what I would expect and if I should really do the diet.

Lastly, I recommend eating as much of the soup as possible. They said the more soup you eat the more you will lose, and I saw that on days where I had more soup. I found it harder and harder to eat the soup as days went by so I chose not to eat that much, and although I'm really happy with my weight loss, I feel if I had drank more soup I probably would have lost more weight.

So here it is...my weigh ins for the week, and my final results!

My Weekly Weigh In's

Day 1= loss of 1.4
Day 2= loss of 1.8
Day 3= loss of 0.8
Day 4= loss of 1
Day 5= loss of 0.8

Thanks for coming along my journey of The Cabbage Soup Diet and thanks for all the comments and encouragement! They say the hardest part of this diet is keeping the weight off, so I will be posting a blog at the end of this week with a weigh in to let you all know if I was able to keep off the weight for the first week!!

Day 6: Cravings again!

DAY 6: BEEF & VEGGIES

So I woke up feeling really good today! Definitely the best I've felt all week!

I got to have beef again today but with only veggies, and as much of them as I wanted. I went to the grocery store to buy the same thin cut strips of beef because to me it looks like there's a lot but they're so thin! I stir fried a bunch of veggies and mushrooms (the mushrooms tasted soo good in garlic and onions!)

I forced myself to drink my soup twice today, but in the evening when I had the second bowl I didn't even have half of it, because to tell you the truth, I AM SO SICK OF IT and I just can't take too much of it anymore. It's not that the soup tastes bad, because it doesn't, it obviously doesn't taste super yummy, but when I've had a lot of the same soup for 6 days now, I'm pretty sick of it, and the smell of it is getting gross!! I didn't end up making a second batch of the soup because the first batch made plenty, so I ended up freezing 1-2 cups of the soup in a few containers and have just de-thawed 2 containers today.

So as nice as it was to have beef again today, I'm still really missing more flavors in my food, thus I had tons of cravings today, they didn't hit me till about 5pm (and it doesn't help that my grandma brought over a bunch of cookies!) I'm not going to lie my brother was having a cookie and I asked him for a sliver of a piece, he gave me a piece that isn't even as big as a finger nail, so I don't feel guilty for eating it cuz it was TINY, but I have to say it tasted AMAZING!! Right afterwards I ate some soup to try to feel really full, and it worked, so those cravings diminished.  I also want to add that I made myself a salad today and made a dressing (that I know others have used on this diet) which consisted of fresh lemon juice, 2 minced garlic cloves, olive oil and pepper.  I didn't really care for it too much as the taste of lemon was really strong (even though I added more olive oil and pepper) so I only ate about half the bowl of salad.

I cooked all the food at once to last me the entire day, above is stir fried veggies (cooked with no calorie olive oil spray, garlic and onion), beef (cooked the same way along with mushrooms).

With today being Day 6 I have to say this diet has been really hard, it has tested my willpower every single day, and it has definitely been a boring diet!! I really miss normal foods and flavors!! I've been thinking a lot about how I will be eating once this diet is over (so I can maintain this weight loss) and although I was on weight watchers before I started I remembered how I thought parts of that program were challenging (I definitely don't think so now!!!!!) I know this diet has given me a lot of motivation, and physically seeing an awesome change with the weight loss has definitely motivated me to stick with WW and just stick with living a healthy lifestyle.

Speaking of physical change, I've really noticed a difference in the way my clothes fit and how noticeable it is to me of where on my body I've lost weight!! It feels pretty good, and definitely makes all the crap I've gone through this week worth it, but more importantly I have to maintain this weight loss and I feel I really will.

So yesterday I was doing some research into the science of this diet, and came across some interesting information that I thought I'd share. These are some pieces of info that I got from a forum about the Cabbage Soup Diet. The quotes are all pretty random, but I thought they were important pieces of information!

"All of us carry around anywhere from 10 to 30 pounds of waste material in our intestines. The dramatic weight loss that some see during the first week is mostly this waste. The diet is high in fiber and really cleans you out. If you were pretty clean to begin with, or close to your ideal weight, you won't realize an 8 - 14 pound loss in one round of the diet. It takes longer for our bodies to start burning actual fat."

"As for making it to the final day, if you stop on Day 5, then you lose the benefit of the super-fast metabolism effect that the last couple of days has for you."

" The point of putting in the meat on Days 5 & 6 are that your body starts up, like jump-starting your metabolism, and doesn't stop until Day 7. I lost most of my weight in the last couple of days, it was pretty staggering."

"The beef is for iron and proteins, the tomatoes are for digestion and fiber. Lots and lots of water purifies your system."

"What we all lose, if we stick to the diet for one week, is water weight and intestinal waste. Maybe some fat, but we will lose the waste before we start losing fat. Fat loss comes later. This is why, if you do the diet for seven days and then return to your normal way of eating, you will soon return to your normal way of weighing."

I thought these peices of information were really interesting! I definetly agree that If you go back to your old way of eating (and it wasn't very healthy) I bet you will gain it all back pretty fast.

Challenges of the Day
*Cravings were pretty bad today, probably more bad than yesterday as I couldn't have fruit to satisfy my cravings for flavor and sweetness!

*No other major challenges for the day

Loss of 1.4

Overall loss: 7.2

* I want to state that I have changed my weight for today.  I originally weighed in at 6am and saw a 0.2 gain.  I was really confused by this and thought it may have been due to the olive oil I had but I had soooo little of it.  I then weighed in again at 2pm and saw a loss of 1.4.  I have consistently weighed in around 9am every morning this week, and I think with weighing in so early it may have affected the loss.*

Day 5: Sleepy...

DAY 5: BEEF & TOMATOS

So today was beef and tomato day and because I can't stand to eat tomato's raw I read on cabbage soup diet webpage http://www.cabbage-soup-diet.com/cabbage-soup-diet-faqs/ that you can substitute tomato's for watermelon and because I LOVE watermelon that's what I did. I've been looking through forums, posts etc today to get motivation about sticking with this crazy diet and I came across a post saying to not eat fruit in the last 3 days of the diet (posted by the women that runs the CBD website) So I'm a little confused right now, and am really hoping I'm not making a big mistake, lets hope I don't see a gain in the morning! I've emailed her and am anxious to get a response back!

This diet really does put your body through all kinds of everything!  Day 1 I was tired, Day 2 I was kinda tired, Day 3 I was tired but getting better, Day 4 I was great, and today I woke up with lots of energy but right after I ate my first piece of beef, I got soooo full, sooo bloated, and extremely tired! I've been tired the remainder of the day. I was so ready to go work out for half an hour (you should only exercise 30min a day max on this diet), but I could barely get myself off the couch to go to the washroom (all the 500 times I went today lol!)  But before I had that yummy beef, I had a bowl of watermelon for breakfast and it was sooo yummy and definitely filling! I feel that Watermelon has been my go to food today, as the cravings for sugar has been pretty bad and the sweetness of the watermelon has definitely helped.

I have to say it was REALLY nice to eat a piece of beef today!! I seasoned it with pepper, garlic powder, paprika, no salt chicken seasoning and a little veggie seasoning, and cooked it with sliced onion, with a little olive oil zero calorie spray. I sauteed some red pepper (also a suggestion to substitute tomato's with) and overall it turned out well, just not used to using so much spices and no sauces or gravy for the beef. I bought 15oz of beef (am allowed up to 20oz)  the thin cut strips of center loin, there's a fancy name for it but I forget now.

The diet's plan says for Day 5 to especially drink 6-8 glasses of water to wash the uric acid out of your body and because I only drank 2 glasses yesterday I've been forcing myself to drink lots today!!

Challenges of the Day

*the cravings for sugar have been pretty bad today, cravings for any food have been bad!

*I've been super bloated ever since I ate my first slice of beef today

*I only had 1 bowl of soup today, I should be eating more of it, but its getting harder and harder

Food Recap
1 bowl of cut up watermelon- 9:00am
1 slice of beef with sauteed onion/red pepper-11:30am
1 bowl of cabbage soup-1:30pm
1 bowl of watermelon-1:30pm
1 slice of beef with sauteed onion/red pepper-4:00pm
1/2 bowl of watermelon-4:15pm

loss of: 0.8

Total loss of  = 5.8 pounds

*I have to say that I find it interesting that I've lost exactly 0.8 pounds for a couple of days throughout the diet.  I think I would have lost more weight if I had more soup but I just couldn't stomach eating more than one bowl when I could have BEEF!  So tomorrow I'm going to try to eat more soup :( and see if there is an increase of weigh loss by Saturday morning!  Stay tuned for tomorrows weigh in!

DAY 4-I Love Smoothies!

DAY 5: Bananas and Skim Milk

( up to 8 Bananas and all the skim milk you want)

It was so nice to wake up this morning and eat a banana!!  The information I've read about the diet says they are supposed to help with cravings for sweets and it really has!!  I was actually full from the banana (it still surprises me how full I get after eating such a small portion!!) I had a banana and skim milk smoothie about an hour later and that filled me up until 1:30pm.  I've never put cinnamon in smoothies, but I have to say it tasted really good with bananas and milk!!

For lunch I forced myself to eat a bowl of soup (along with my second smoothie of the day) but I was getting so full from the smoothies that I only ended up eating half the bowl of soup.

I was out most of the afternoon so I didn't end up eating dinner until 7:45pm when I had a banana and a bowl of soup.  I ended up putting a banana in the freezer and later on I peeled it, smooshed it with a fork and ate it like it was ice cream, it was actually really yummy and felt like a treat!

Again my cravings for today have been quite minimal, but I feel the worst of it was when I was out and about driving, and just driving past restaurants and picturing the big dishes they serve!!  Sure made me hungry! I think at this point more than anything I'm craving an actual meal, like a big plate in front of me with some meat, veggies and potatoes.  I'm not craving fattening foods, just craving a normal meal instead of all the soup I've been eating.

It definitely hasn't been easy eating all that soup everyday and being so limited as to what I can eat with it.  On a positive note this diet has really made me more aware of how good fruits and veggies are for you, and I can tell the difference in how I feel after I eat veggies or fruit and how my body reacts to it.

I think a key thing to this diet is to not allow yourself to get so hungry and when you do, eat soup right away!  I usually have soup around noon and then I'm good to go anywhere from 4-7pm when I get really hungry.  Its those moments when I become starved that I obviously crave yummy foods like crazy, and as soon as I force myself to eat that soup, those feelings go away.  It's definetly not easy eating that soup everyday, and I was starting to get real sick of it, so today I added a bunch of pepper and a little garlic powder (even though those spices were already in the soup) and it tasted wayyy better!!  I still don't really enjoy eating it, but I can definetly handle it.  I know there are a lot of different versions of soups you can make (regarding using which spices to flavor it with) but I found such a difference with adding more pepper to it!!

Overall it was a good day, my energy is definitely increasing and I'm thinking more clearly (felt sluggish and not myself the past few days).  I'm still not myself regarding my energy level, but I guess that makes sense with such the low amount of calories I'm taking in everyday.  My skin is looking really good, and the weight continues to be dropping which is awesome!

Tommorow is Beef & Tomatoes day (10-20oz of beef and up to 6 tomatoes)  Cannot wait to eat meat!!! Just have to figure out how the heck I'm going to spice it up with flavor as I can't use any sauces or anything with fat or salt in it!

Sorry I don't have any pictures from today as I forgot to take some, and I wasn't home the majority of the rest of the day.  I'll definitely post pictures tomorrow!

Challenges of the Day

*driving by restaurants and picturing items on their menu in front of me! Mmmmm

*again my water intake was a challenge today, it ended up being a busy day but that should be no excuse (they say the more soup and water you consume the more you will lose)

Positives of the Day

  • I don't think I've mentioned this, but for the past 4 days I have been having the best sleep of my life! Such deep sleeps, and I wake up feeling really rested!
  •  skin is looking clearer and clearer!
  •  got a compliment on my weight loss today!  Yay!!
  • Bananas are delicious!!!!!! Yumm!!

DAY 3: Feeling Good!

DAY 3: FRUIT & VEGGIES-Tuesday June 19

So today has been the best day so far on the diet.  Everyday isn't a great day, BECAUSE I CAN'T EAT THE FOODS I WANT lol but....so far today has been a good one.  The cravings are very minimal, and I was SOO excited to wake up and eat a piece of FRUIT!!

Oh how I have never loved fruit more than I do today!

Yesterday was pretty brutal just eating veggies only and soup, but I'm not a big raw veggie person.  I love veggies, but I usually fry them up somehow or I eat raw veggies with dip.  I would fry them up, but I can't use olive oil (although they say if you REALLY need to, you can use a teaspoon of oil) and I prefer to stick to the diet very strictly as I want to see a big weight loss by Sunday morning!!

It filled me up enough that I didn't eat anything else until 12:30pm.  For lunch I had a bowl of soup with a plate of veggies and fruit.  I actually cooked those veggies (frozen veggies) yesterday, and as they were boiling I looked on the package and saw there was sodium in it (25mg) so I didn't eat them.  Later on while at the grocery store after sifting through numerous bags of all kinds of veggies (staying away from peas and corn as you cannot eat them on this diet) I realized that every bag of frozen veggies will have some sodium in it (makes sense I guess) so I ended up eating the veggies today.  I don't know what it was, but the veggies smelled bad for some odd reason.  I had them stored in my fridge and nothing else was in there, but there was just a weird smell to it, so it made eating veggies a little less enjoyable today.

I'm really looking forward to tomorrows meal plan as I get to eat up to 8 Bananas and as much skim milk as I would like.  I'm not a fan of skim milk on its own, but I think I'll be able to live with it (will be my first source of dairy in 3 days!).  I'm pretty excited to wake up tomorrow and make myself a banana and milk smoothie (with a little cinnamon!).  As for today, I've mostly eaten fruits more than veggies.

I worked all afternoon 3pm-11pm and as for some odd reason I always have trouble eating at work, I really wasn't too hungry.  I had some fruit around 6pm and then cabbage soup around 8pm.  I had a medium size bowl of soup and I was good to go. Once I got off work at 11pm I was STARVING again (I find late at night is when I get super hungry) so I got home and ate a pear and that filled me up.

Challenges of the Day

  • Today was another one of those days where it was hard to drink a lot of water

  • Did have minimal cravings but they weren't as bad as yesterday

  • I' m getting sick of feeling SOO bloated after eating ANYTHING! I've read this is VERY common but its just such a heavy feeling (it only lasts 10-15 min) but its still annoying

Positives of the Day

(thought I'd add strengths/positives of the day as I felt there were a few to note!)

  • Higher amount of energy
  • Less cravings and less dreaming about foods I can't eat
  • My skin looks really good! It's never bad, but I can tell this diet is making my skin look really clear!!
  • I can tell I've lost weight in my face/shoulders/arms (yes I've stood in front of the mirror since starting this diet, trying to find noticable differences and I can finally see them!)
  • I really like how full I get so fast after eating my meals (keep in mind I eat my soup pretty slowly as that method helps tell your brain your full faster, plus I can't down that soup so fast, its just not that enjoyable, but I'm not at the point where I can't stand it!)
  • This doesn't relate to today, but I wanted to say that yesturday I was allowed to put a small amount of butter on my baked potatoe and I chose not to!! *Proud Moment*

DAY 2-Sick of Veggies!

DAY 2: Veggies & Cabbage Soup ONLY!!-Monday June 18

Looking over the meal plan I knew in advance that Day 2 would probably be the most challenging day as I'm a really picky eater and I usually don't eat veggies without a dip or some sort of sauce or oil (usually steam broccoli and cook with garlic and olive oil, and I always dip carrots, cucumbers etc in ranch dip).

and I was right......

So I woke up this morning with the same headache I had last night (keep in mind I had that headache yesterday from 5-10pm).  I didn't take any Advil or anything because I wanted it to pass naturally, ya right!

When I woke up to the smell of coffee I figured I had to get some caffeine and would try a cup of black coffee. WELL....I can now say that black coffee is more gross than I thought it was (it's been years since I drank it, and that's only because I had the stomach flu and my grandma told me to drink coffee black to rid it, and it worked!). On a positive note, after drinking less than half a cup of that coffee my headache went away, and I felt really full.

I ate less then half a bowl of soup and one cup of steamed broccoli and I was STUFFED! I couldn't believe it!! I also want to mention that I decided to blend my soup this morning to change up the flavor and texture and it worked out well!  I think eating the soup blended is a bit easier, and saves me from picking around those chunky tomato's!

So I was at the mall with my bf today and was having such crazy cravings that I thought buying a pack of strawberry sugar free gum would help (flavor wise) and after consecutively chewing about 4 pieces one after the other (mmmm strawberry flavor)...I saw on the package that each piece of gum was 4 calories and well.......I stopped chewing.

This is soo yummy!!! lol

I didn't end up eating anything after that until 4:15pm but I was starving by then (doesn't help walking through a grocery store and knowing you can't eat practically ANYTHING in there!) so I ate a full bowl of soup.  I actually forced myself to eat the whole bowl even though I was getting full, because I didn't want to have to eat more soup later...starting to get sick of it real fast!

My Dinner!

For dinner I ate a bowl of cabbage soup and baby carrots since the potato wasn't ready yet. About 45 minutes later it was chow time!!!! (although I was already pretty full from the soup). I have to say it was REALLY nice eating that potato!! I put green onion and lemon citrus seasoning on it!! It was better than I thought it would be, but would've been wayyyy better with some sour cream Mmmm

Challenges of the Day

  • Only eating Veggies....they are so boring, so bland, and it sucks!  Have I mentioned I'm hungry!
  • Cravings!! They have been pretty bad today and I've mostly craved sugary foods
  • It's getting harder and harder to eat that soup, I'm definitely getting sick of it fast..the taste and smell are starting to get to me.
  • I only have about 2 bowls a day when I should really be having 2-4 or more

# of P's

Thanks to Sally for a fun suggestion to note how many times I go Pee everyday! As with this diet you pee A LOT lol so I might as well document that as well!!

DAY 1-Gone Fishing

DAY 1: FRUIT & CABBAGE SOUP ONLY

Sunday June 17

So I've gotten through the first day of the diet.  I have to say it's not as bad as I thought it would be.  I'm not going to lie it was pretty rough getting up at 5:40am for work today and not being able to have a coffee.  The diet says I can have black coffee, but what fun is that!  I'm not an everyday coffee drinker, but I always have it before work so that's one routine I'm finding hard to change.  Instead I put a glass of water on my desk at work and sat there wishing it was a double double.

So I was at work till 3pm today which made things much easier as I have always found it hard eating at work so my morning wasn't too bad.  I had my FIRST bowl of cabbage soup around 11:30am and it wasn't bad at all.  My co-worker even wanted to try it, saying how good it smelled (Yea..I added a lot of Italian spices) but I really was pleasantly surprised the taste was not as bad as I had thought it would be, and surprisingly I enjoyed eating the cabbage (guess all those Croatian cabbage rolls are to blame for that!)

I think one thing I would change in the recipe is the diced tomatos.  Every time I ate the soup today I felt I was fishing through the bowl avoiding every piece of tomato as possible.  I like tomatoes, I just don't like big chunks of it.  I think for my second batch (you usually have to make two batches for the 7 days) I will either chop up the already diced tomato's myself, or just blend them.  Speaking of blending, I'm thinking of blending a bowl of soup tomorrow to change it up a bit, and to save me time fishing for everything except tomato's!!!!

Challenges of the Day

  • Driving on the highway from Langley to Burnaby after eating a bowl of soup and having drank a glass of water and needing to pee sooooo badly while my bf  gets a kick out of it!
  • Picking and fishing through my bowl of soup in trying to not eat chunks of tomato
  • Had a headache for about 3-4 hours, its a different kind of headache, very light, not full on but enough to be really irritating!
  • Trying to drink enough water, my goal is 6 glasses a day minimum and I'm only at 5 glasses (after forcing myself to drink drink drink!)

FOOD RECAP
1 peach around 8am
1 bowl of soup @11:30pm
1 bowl of soup @3:30pm
1 plum
Half a cantaloup (they were med-small size) @ 6pm
2 pears @ 7pm

So overall the first day hasn't been too bad, I could definitely do without the headache in the evening, but from what I've read this is quite common for the first day or two as your body is detoxing.  I didn't have any cravings throughout the day until around 7pm (damn pizza commercials!), but I just ate some fruit to satisfy the sweets I was wanting.  I have to say that I found the soup to be quite filling and I wasn't hungry at all today, more than anything I just had cravings of any kind of food except soup and fruit!   I am NOT looking forward to the meal plan tomorrow (Veggies and Soup Only..except one potato at dinner) as I can't have any dips with the veggies and I'm pickyyyyyyy!
